The Yard Dogs Road Show will be playing in Denver a few weeks before Halloween and you should go check it out! The only downfall being that after seeing their Halloween show itself, this might be a little more lackluster. The art of the theatrical music performance has been regrettably overlooked in recent years and the Yard Dogs are doing their part to combat that with a cornucopia for your eyes and ears. Imagine walking around in an old Polish city at dusk: you can hear the accordion music spilling out of the tunnels and right when you start to really enjoy it, the absinthe you just drank kicks in and the music starts to sound like some kind of wonderful nervous breakdown. You stand for a second in wonder before you realize that, as the gods would have it, the music is actually coming out of an old music hall, so, what else can you do? You go inside. Once inside, it is apparent that you have stumbled upon a Vaudevillian sideshow complete with a mysterious conductor, sword swallowers, fire breathers, and pulchritudinous dancing women. And there you are, stuck, hypnotized until the very last note falls. You’d be hard pressed to find anything more entertaining going on in Denver that night, or that week even.
