In between filming segments, he still trots the globe doing what he calls “talking shows”, basically several hours of alternately hilarious and dramatic storytelling. I caught his most recent stop in the Mile High Club that is Denver, Colorado and it didn’t disappoint, as usual.

When Image asked me to interview Paul van Dyk, I honestly wasn't sure I was up to the task. After all, he is the world's #1 DJ, not to mention one of the most recognized names in the dance music industry and of course an  icon of the electronic culture itself. But as it turns out, he is also one of the most down-to-earth superstars I've had the privilege to talk to.

I know, I know, sniffing is a gateway to huffing.  That, however, is a risk I was willing to take.  It was a small price to pay to pay homage to all those who made The Great American Trailer Park Musical possible, especially the producers who themselves risked their collective @$$ to extend the show’s Denver run.

When most think about the world of pageants, catty girls, overzealous mothers and world peace come to mind.  Sitting next to Mrs. U.S. Globe 2007, Janelle Spahn, was anything but a regular pageant girl experience. For one, Spahn is no girl; she’s a 27-year-old mother of two young girls and a devoted wife to her husband Michael for the last seven years.

The same cities that were breaking the stars of the original movement twenty years ago, are repeating themselves this time with more complex and diverse talent than ever before. Once again, the San Francisco Bay area of California is consistently producing the cream of the proverbial crop. Atop the most prolific of these artists is Lyrics Born.

Any clubber worth his margarita salt will recognize the name Lee Burridge. After all, Lee holds a residency at what is arguably Denver's hottest nightlife spot: Club Vinyl. His 365 Tour brings him through the Mile High City several times a year, and each time his performance is better than the last.

Interpol has found an extremely comfortable niche for themselves over the years. They first garnered critical acclaim with Turn on the Bright Lights. Commercial fame followed suit with the entrance of their second full-length album, Antics, all this while staying in the relative safe confines of an independent record label, Matador.

The girls swore to change this stalemate. So they started a website bringing together the best apparel and gear meeting the ‘fashion and function’ philosophy for skate, ski, snow, surf and wake. But stopping there would not sate these girls’ appetites, so they added to it an on-line forum for discussion and customer interaction where women could gather to learn more about action sports and fashion.

A charming reprieve from the rigors of the day, Amuse by Michel provides a low-key, yet sensational atmosphere at a price that nearly defies logic. The term: “affordable elegance” loses its oxymoronic value in this case with Amuse items ranging from $4 per selection to $7 for entrées; it is a value seldom seen in an environment that welcomes the casual diner, while at the same time beckoning those with a more formal temperament.
