Global Underground is known for sophisticated mixes from the biggest names in dance music--Danny Howells, Deep Dish, Digweed, and Sasha, to name a few--but the release causing the biggest buzz among fans is one which doesn't have a DJ name attached to it at all.
Welcome to the Afterhours series, an eclectic medley of sounds and styles blended together for the more intimate gathering, when the clubbing is done. This collection is different from other GU mixes in that it's not so much about the DJ as it is about the music.
The Afterhours compilations have become "synonymous with post-clubbing after parties." Track selection is truly top-shelf; the playlist was hand-picked from three decades of tunes and mashed up with the hot tracks of today and tomorrow. It boasts a unique sound and "juxtaposes music from every genre."
Disc 1 is the 'Organic' mix, with smooth sounds and a chill vibe. Disc 2--'Electronic'-- carries a synthetic edge and a subtle nastiness that cuts through the ambiance at just the right moments. Disc 3 is 'The Future' (unmixed) and is a taste of what we can expect to hear at the after parties of this coming year.
