wordplay: DJ Elroy

He is the man every guy wants to be; the guy every girl wants to be with. He is a Grammy-nominated producer, a world famous DJ, an artist, a musician, the Alpha, the Omega. He is consistantly voted in the top ranks of every DJ poll. His name is synonomous with trance, and he is recognized in both the underground dance music scene and the commercial pop industry.  Yes, he is the one that even other DJs look up to. His list of acheivements would put OJ's rap sheet to shame.

He is Paul van Dyk.

In Between, his first full-length album since 2003, has been getting rave reviews by long-time fans and and new listeners alike. PVD is doing what he does best on this artist album - making unique and inspiring dance music. The vibe is decidely trancey, and while a few of the tracks do have a pop-appeal, the album leans towards a return to the uplifting and melodic sounds that put Paul Van Dyk on the map. The playlist is a good mix of vocal cuts and instrumental beauty. It's trance. It's club. And it's so much more.

The featured tracks were chosen from over 25 joints Paul had put together over the past several years. Each song is a story in itself, a snapshot of living in the world today.
"The music came together over a period of two or three years. There have been all these changes - the whole globalization thing, the climate change, and just as much me growing up. This is why it's called In Between – as in between phases."

The album is a collabrative effort, and van Dyk calls in a variety of artists to add even more flavor and diversity to his music. The first single, "White Lies," features the vocal talents of Jessica Sutta (Pussycat Dolls) and has already made a mark on the club charts. Other notables include David Byrne of Talking Heads fame, singer/songwriter Ashley Tomberlin, Lo-Fi Sugar, and more. The CD is available in stores as a continous mix, or online in an unmixed digital format.

If you're already a fan of the world’s number 1 DJ, you won't be disappointed. If you've been living under a rock and haven't heard Paul Van Dyk, this is definitely a good place to start.
In Between is what trance is all about.
