Capitol Hill is the home of the greatest and cheapest finds of the century. This chunk of Denver is the only place that can successfully integrate the drama of Colfax, the traffic of a downtown street, and the center of the independent hipster vortex. That being said, it is really the best place to shop if you are looking for something different, but budget friendly. The newest addition to this local venue is Bruise Clothing… a suburban second hand thrift store and art gallery.
Located at 1409 Ogden St., this store is bringing some life back into this area by supporting local artists and musicians. In addition to First Friday art openings, and late night shopping with local deejays, Bruise contributes in a more subtle way…. Artists, musicians, and even college students can afford to shop here… plain and simple. There is nothing in this store over $35.00, which the owner (aka. Deejay Diabolic) painstakingly scouts out from local thrift stores and donors.
With an eye for style, Diabolic brings his treasures to his store for a good scouring. It is amazing what 45 minutes can do to a pair of Nikes that were naively tossed aside. Even more amazing is some of the merchandise. Talk about real finds… a Kate Spade bag for $25.00, a pair of Diesel Jeans for $22.00, and a fantastic Adidas zipper hoodie for $18.00. You can’t beat a bargain, but you can Bruise one!
