Even before David Fitzgerald got his driver’s license, he had invested in his first collector car. He obviously already knew that cars were his passion. Fitzgerald has lived in Colorado since 1967 and, even with his vast travel experiences all over the country, he can’t get enough of Denver’s perfection. When he isn’t in a limo with friends club hoppin’ in search of his favorite DJ, he’s eating, drinking, working on and, yes, even dreaming about cars. Fitzgerald calls his shop and his Northglenn Dodge dealership home, and instills his love and knowledge of mechanical ingenuity into employee, friend and customer alike. Be forewarned though…if you meet him on the street, don’t try to show off your 10/10 vehicle unless you know where it came from, what’s under the hood, and how it works!
“Don’t talk to me about cars if your version of collecting is buying multiple new Bentleys, Porsches or Benzes because you’re bored and you can. Please don’t hump my leg with that bad @$$ Mustang or Camaro your brother/uncle/friend used to own and if that rusty sh!+ box in your backyard that isn’t worth a tow bill to the junkyard still fuels your fantasy of retiring on Easy Street, then fµ©k off. I’m not a snob, I’ve just suffered fools long enough. Real collectors understand what a piston is, who designed their car, and what automotive heritage means to current or past products. You know, passion, genuine passion. Buying stuff doesn’t count, so quit calling yourself a collector, or spend a lifetime dedicated to all aspects of an art as I have. I have driven competitively, I still instruct racing. Personally with my hands, not my checkbook, I have restored eight vehicles and overseen or done partial restorations on another twenty. My personal top speed, when at the wheel, is 189 mph and, as a passenger at Indy, 211. I’ve driven Sebring/Sears Point/Road Atlanta/Las Vegas Intl. Speedway, been behind the wheel of 1100 hp CART cars. Turned hundreds of laps and at least a hundred quarter mile passes. You want to talk? Ask—share—smile—learn—teach, don’t bullshit. Oh, and that bad @$$ car of your brother/uncle/friend, stop talking, start racing—just bring cash.”
