Not a delegate, super or otherwise, and left out of the loop for the four days the DNC is in town (August 25 – 28)? Not to worry, here’s our guide to avoiding Hanging Chads, navigating smoke-filled rooms and surviving the DNC ’08! Let’s party like it’s 1999!

Green Eggs & Pork Barrel – Dr. Seuss For President Art Exhibit

Now that you mention it, that cat’s hat did have a certain ‘Lincolnian’ presence, didn’t it? This politically-charged exhibit lays out the pop icon’s conscience for the world to examine.

August 15th - September 30th @ Gallery One Writer’s Square

DNC Open House

See where it all goes down while the paint’s still wet. The specific date of the single-day open house will be released in August.

TBA @ Pepsi Center

Dead Presidents - American Presidential Experience: A Non-Partisan Tribute

Ever wanted to see Air Force One (well, a full size replica) parked outside Invesco Field? Well now’s your chance, at this 150,000-square-foot, non-partisan exhibit on the ghosts of Presidents’ past.

August 22nd - 29th @ Invesco Field (Parking Lot D)

Praise & Prez - Leah Daughtry: Interfaith Gathering

The DNC kicks off the official events not by raising the roof, but by getting on their knees.

August 24th @ Wells Fargo Theatre

Green Party - Green Frontier Fest

To show off the extent that the DNC has ‘green thumbs’ this year, the PAC is holding a free event with a menagerie of eco-friendly and sustainable aspects of the convention, all this and no sign of Nader.

August 24th @ DCPA (Sculpture Park)

Pol’ Art

To wish the Dems a ‘bull’s eye’ with their big shindig, Target is bringing the arts to the masses when they open the doors of the Denver Arts Museum for a free day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

August 25th @ Denver Art Museum

Indecision 2008: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

That’s right, everyone’s favorite political-satirist will be making O’ Reilly hot under the collar from our fair city during the convention. Although the free tapings are sold out, we’re sure some stoner CU Boulder students will forget to show up on time.

August 25th - 28th @ Newman Center (DU)

Rock to Win @ The DNC w/ Melissa Etheridge

This year’s California Supreme Court ruling to recognize marriage for same sex couples was the first step forward in GLBT rights in quite some time. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC.org), an organization at the forefront of this fight, knows that only one candidate can deliver further GLBT justice come November, and his last name doesn’t rhyme with McLame. To coincide with the DNC in Denver, HRC will throw “Rock to Win at the DNC”, with Melissa Etheridge topping the bill. Honoring the creators and cast of “Milk”, a film depicting the tragic assassination of San Fran City Supervisor/GLBT activist Harvey Milk, is also on the agenda.  Wiki “Milk” if you don’t know the story, as it’s fascinating if not tragic, or just head to the Fillmore on August 26th.

August 26th @ The Fillmore

Coming Soon

August 27th @ The Church

History in our Midst:  Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech

This is the big one, people! In a ‘change’ from tradition, the change agent himself will leave the congregation to give his acceptance speech to those who brought Barack Obama from last DNC’s keynote speaker to this year’s candidate for Prez. It’s us people! Thank goodness we voted for Obama in our primary or this might have been awkward. It might be a free event at Invesco Field, but you can bet those tickets are gonna go faster than the shredder at the White House in November.

August 28th @ Invesco Field

Party Poopers

Not so jazzed about the summer O’ bama love? Don’t worry, The Pepsi Center has your First Amendment covered with a 50,000+ square-foot area in Parking Lot A.  You’ll be in earshot of those entering the convention but fenced in like chickens, resembling a big tailgate party.

August 25th-28th @ Pepsi Center (Parking Lot A)

Mile High moms, your kids are on-line watching…THE DNC!!!

That’s right, technophiles. Don’t fancy paying twenty bucks for an oversized foam hand exclaiming, “Give the GOP the finger!”? Never fear, catch all the action from the safety of your computer at DemConvention.com.
