Who ever heard of learning while you shop?  Or collaborating with other musicians in between racks of clothes?  That’s the idea at Fancy Tiger, the newly opened Do-It-Yourself (DIY) apparel, craft and music boutique at 1 South Broadway.  Owners, Matt and Jamie, came back to Denver to open their store for the reason many designers and artists are choosing the Mile High city; an abundance of talented local designers and the desire to bring new national designers to Denver.

As a men’s and women’s retail store, the Fancy Tiger is a perfect fit for a neighborhood focused on promoting Denver’s local talent.  This is not your average apparel store.  Fancy Tiger offers classes, workshops and events for the up and coming designer as well as yet undiscovered musicians.  While 70% of the store is devoted to apparel, there’s an entire wall of DIY crafts and hands on projects.  Music lovers will appreciate a listening station devoted strictly to local artists.  Denver area musicians are encouraged to submit their tracks and local designers are always welcome to present ideas.  By bringing people together in a sharing environment, Matt and Jamie hope to create a personal experience that will inspire anyone who enters.

The price point for the clothes is wonderfully affordable with no jeans being more than $90 and most shirts and skirts ranging from $40-$45.  Fancy Tiger already has a hefty mailing list and the workshops in place promise to increase in the fall and winter.  Be sure to check out their website, as upcoming events are added, and be on the lookout for a Fancy Tiger blog that will sure be a useful link for artists, designers and musicians in the area.  Either Matt or Jaime are always working, so be sure and say hi before you slip on the headphones to hear the newest local music.
