Ride of the Month: Toyota Camry Hybrid Sedan

To avoid risk of personal injury, I fought the powerful urge to jump up and kick my heels together upon exiting the car after my first drive. I also can’t remember if it was in fact the Camry commercial where the people exercised that celebration. It sure sounds good though.

Like many of the new cars you’ve seen reviews of over the past couple years, the Camry Hybrid Sedan is more than spacious with a sleek, clean design and a futuristic feel to it. The fact that you don’t hear anything when you turn the key further supports that notion. That is a standard with all the hybrid specimens of late, which leaves an air of relief with the environmentally conscious population.

Camry is certainly not the “king of the road” by any means, but a very smart buy if your goal is getting from point A to point B in style and, at the same time, forgetting about your fuel level for a few weeks. This beauty will get 40 miles per gallon in the city and 38 on the highway. Yes you read it correctly. I drove this thing all over downtown for a week and the gas gauge barely dropped below ¾ of a tank.

My frequent trips to Vail would not make fun for such a car on a permanent basis. So, if you don’t need or expect excessive power, if you’re not one to show off and your car is NOT an extension of your manhood, it might be the best buy I’ve come across this year. A great holiday gift!
