Maybe you’ve seen her out and about in Denver—bubbly and bold with a funky fashion sense and an assertive attitude that’s almost contagious. Her method to her own fabulous madness is her creative soul and her business savvy groove. She calls herself a “dreamer/doer,” and clearly, she is doing…a lot. She is Brandi Shigley, a Renaissance woman by choice, and “business starter-upper” of Fashion Denver, b.23 productions—a PR and marketing company—and Fabricate Magazine, an online fashion site and forum. Not to mention her “side projects that also keep her über busy” like her band - b.sous music—and her internationally acclaimed handbag-designing endeavor, - shigley designs. When she is not sewing swatches of fabric together or rockin’ out with her band, she is bringing local designers together and getting them in touch with the public through her own brainchild, Fashion Denver. Since 2002, Shigley has marketed and networked for these local fashion designing up-and-comers and now represents over 400 shoe, accessory, clothing and jewelry designers, who currently reside in Denver/Boulder. Fashion Denver showcases these talented folks at the fashion market, hosted by Fashion Denver, and also by hosting several fashion shows throughout the year. Now there is no reason to rely on L.A. and New York for stylish duds when there are plenty in our own neck of the woods. Besides her several contributions to the up-and-coming local fashion designers, Shigley also offers workshops to teach people to basically do what they love and get paid for it because “life is too short to not love what you do.” Some parting words of wisdom from the self-proclaimed dreamer/doer: “Talking about ideas is great, but doing it is better - don’t just talk about it, do it.” Indeed, she does “do” a lot and is quite successful for that matter.
