The woman behind the silky voice that caught the world’s attention in Apple’s unforgettable “1-2-3-4” commercial earlier this year comes to Denver this month, and the Canadian siren promises to deliver much more than a catchy commercial jingle. Feist croons with a playful, folksy rawness and hits high notes sweetly, sending vibrational chills over your spine. It’s almost impossible to imagine this voice once belting punk rock, a stint that forced her to give up singing for four whole years. Whatever it took was well worth the struggle. Throughout The Reminder, her newest album, there is a spacious sound and strong sense of nostalgia, possibly inspired by the 200-year-old Parisian manor where she recorded most of it. During the string of 15 songs, Leslie Feist subtly seduces the listener into a sacred trance in “The Water”; then throws in funky electric melodies a la bubbles bouncing on a rubber floor, especially in “Sea Lion Woman.” On July 15th the Fillmore will host Feist, the perfect combination for summertime fun and daydreaming.
